Staffers in the Spotlight – FirstFound FC
The 2011-2012 football season is well and truly underway, as people up and down the country settle back into a weekend routine of Soccer Saturday, Match of the Day and Goals on Sunday.
But for some of us, just watching the game isn’t enough. Which is why back in summer, FirstFound’s technical department set up a football team to compete in Manchester’s Creative League.
Unfortunately, a combination of injuries and other commitments, the team had to withdraw half way through the season (despite a solid, high-scoring start) and drop out from the Autumn season.
Luckily for us though, the technical department weren’t the only team competing in FirstFound colours. Our sales department also put out a team – FirstFound B, who made waves after entering the summer’s Creative League as a short-notice replacement.
Finishing third in the top division, FirstFound B managed to bag an amazing 127 goals in just 14 games – although they might have challenged for the title if they’d have not conceded a frankly appalling 125.
After drafting in FirstFound A’s midfield dynamo Adam Ramsden, the new look FirstFound B team is ready for the new season.
The side is captained by Optimise regular Simon Monaghan, who told us that top scorer Nathan Doe is the one to watch this season:
“Nathan’s our top player. He thinks he should be European Footballer of the year, but he might not be up to quite that standard. I don’t think he’ll make the England team any time soon...”
Following a terrible defensive record in the summer, Naeem Hussain has volunteered to be the team’s new goalkeeper, with Matthew Ferns and Scott Maclean making up the rest of the side.
FirstFound B will be aiming for glory in the autumn’s Manchester Creative Cup, so follow their progress on the Creative Cup website - http://www.creative-cup.com/
