So sit tight as we polish our crystal balls, look for patterns in the bottom of our teacups and shed some light on what will come to pass in the next 12 months…
Music
2011's X Factor contest will be won by someone in their early 20s with some sort of uplifting sob story. By 2012, you'll have forgotten who they were.
Sports
As preparation time for the 2012 Olympics runs out, the London organisers will petition the Olympic Committee to add events like "100m bricklaying" and "synchronised track building".
Film
Months before the final film in the Twilight Saga is released, teenage girls everywhere will start queuing outside cinemas. Teenage boys will declare this 'sad', before joining a queue for the midnight release of the latest Xbox shoot-em-up.
Weather
Records will be smashed as Britain's summertime will last longer than a fortnight for the first time this millennium. Stock up on seaside shorts and sandals to avoid the rush!
Business
Richard Branson will finally unleash the space-faring successor to Virgin Rail and Virgin Atlantic – Virgin Galactic. The maiden flight will be ruined slightly when the final third of the journey has to be completed on a rail replacement bus.
General
2011 will be slightly worse than 2010 – although it'll be a bit more futuristic.
